World Series Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japan Markets.

The exciting extended clash where the Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a aggregate over 50 million spectators in the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. MLB reported this is the highest-rated World Series finale after the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest drew over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It additionally is the most-watched Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition final game between the Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This marks a 16% increase over the last Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, Game 4 ranked seventh, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game landed in 13th place.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game averaged 11.6M viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English-language broadcast in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where World Series MVP Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – drew 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched World Series game on a single network in Japan.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-match series drew over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the total American average was over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew over 8 million viewers, an eight percent increase over last year and the network’s strongest postseason ratings since 2017.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen different tongues.
