The visionary game developer, renowned for co-creating the wildly popular franchise Call of Duty, has died in a traffic collision in California at the age of 55.

Zampella's death was confirmed by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, the video game company he co-founded.

The celebrated industry figure lost his life when his automobile collided and caught fire on a motorway in the Los Angeles area on this past Sunday, as reported by.

"This represents an unimaginable loss, and our deepest sympathies go to his family and friends, his family, and the countless individuals inspired by his legacy," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts said.
