Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative locally engineered interceptor drone to strengthen its air defences. Three initial manufacturers have begun production, with 11 more getting ready to establish production lines, Ukrainian military officials stated on Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Proven in Battlefield Conditions

These UAVs will be based on a nationally created system called “Octopus” designed to neutralize Shahed drones. The system has been tested in combat and demonstrated effective “during nighttime, under jamming and at low altitudes,” the ministry stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of manufacturing as many as 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Latest Attack on Kyiv Characterized as Calculated

The Ukrainian president described Russia’s latest attack on Ukraine as “deliberate, calculated and brutal” following six people lost their lives and dozens wounded in a series of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Alert systems activated in the capital shortly after midnight on Friday, with Shahed drones soon heard overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukrainian air defences.

Zelenskyy stated the nation was hit by hundreds of UAVs and 18 missiles. The deceased were at home in a block of flats on Kyiv’s left bank when it was hit. Dozens of other buildings sustained damage, among them the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

International Objection Following Embassy Destruction

Azerbaijan said it issued a strong protest to the Russian ambassador on Friday following the embassy damage. The blast from a Moscow's missile demolished a section of the compound's boundary wall and resulted in significant destruction to the diplomatic compound, officials from Baku stated. There were no personnel injured, and an official representative confirmed the Kyiv embassy was maintaining operations.

Russian Glide Bomb Manufacturing Experiences Significant Increase

Moscow plans to manufacture up to 120,000 guided aerial bombs in the current year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official disclosed, among them 500 of a new, extended-range model that is capable of targeting additional urban centers. Moscow's military were firing hundreds of aerial bombs per day, with last month’s average daily usage being approximately 170, according to defence ministry data.

Kyiv's Attacks Target Russian Oil Facilities

Moscow's Black Sea port of the port city halted for a period oil exports on Friday – equivalent to two percent of worldwide oil production – after a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Military commanders in Kyiv said its military had launched domestically produced missiles and deployed various types of strike drones in the attack on Novorossiysk “as part of operations to reduce the strategic capabilities of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukrainian forces separately targeted a processing plant in the Saratov area and an energy depot in the adjacent Engels region overnight.

International Restrictions Affect Moscow's Oil Producer

The number two energy company Lukoil said this past Friday it has been in talks with interested parties regarding its international holdings after recent restrictions from the UK and the US and failure of an agreement with commodity trader Gunvor. “The specific deal will be announced once the final agreements have been reached and required authorizations are secured,” Lukoil stated.

Zelenskyy Plans Diplomatic Trip to Spanish Capital

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to the city of Madrid, the Spanish capital, next Tuesday to meet with lawmakers following his visit to Paris, Spanish parliamentary officials announced. Zelenskyy would meet deputies from both chambers of parliament during his visit, an official announcement confirmed.
