Trump Invites Loved Ones of Injured National Guard Personnel to the Presidential Residence
President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the executive mansion.
He added that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Tragic Incident
US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in DC.
Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Memorials across the state have taken place in their remembrance.
Presidential Call
The commander-in-chief stated he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump informed the press. “And likewise with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Response
Mourners gathered over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.
Both they had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to aid policing efforts in DC.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the type of pupil that instructors wished for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her former high school, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, compassionate and always willing to help others.”
Service details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Measures and Government Adjustments
Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The incident caused the Trump administration to halt asylum processing and cease providing visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
The airman, a resident of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey said on television.
Attorney general Bondi stated on a news show that she planned to speak to Wolfe’s family.
Memory of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the state guard.
“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had fortitude,” the governor informed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
