The Renowned Musician Encourages Support to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Christmas No 1.
A campaign is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.
“It has a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Production History and Star-Studded Lineup
The song was recorded in the wake of a solidarity show held in late summer. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the performance was cut from the show due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of musicians appearing on Lullaby encompasses a range of well-known figures from the scene. All participated in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was produced by a team of music creators. The song blends a fusion of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the campaign have emphasized that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a figure said. “We will pursue as much as possible. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The situation in the region was described as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of infrastructure reportedly destroyed or damaged.
“Against that backdrop, a few million doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is first of all raising awareness for this issue and showing there’s another side to the story.”
The song is launching this Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
