The Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Matchup Versus Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their initial championship series after 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the ALCS.
Trailing by two runs, the star outfielder delivered a three-run homer in the seventh, leading the Toronto squad in the majors to a four games to three win in the series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, who are the reigning title, in the upcoming World Series.
"I'm just so happy for everyone here, Toronto, the nation," commented Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "This is such an unbelievable moment."
The veteran has now slugged twenty-three post-season home runs, placing him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).
"I can't think of anyone else in the world that I want up in that moment except for Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, who had led the early in the series, continue to be the one club never to appear in a championship series.
Wilson stated "certainly that it hurts" after his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance in the campaign.
"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the wrong side of the series," he continued.
The Blue Jays claimed the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on Friday.
