The Red Bull team has announced a major reshuffle for the 2026 F1 campaign, elevating French driver Isack Hadjar to its main squad and awarding British teenager Arvid Lindblad his first Formula 1 seat.

The young driver, who comes from a mixed Swedish-Indian background, will be the partner of New Zealander Liam Lawson at the sister squad VCARB.

This driver musical chairs results in Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda losing his seat after five seasons.

A Star in the Making

Arvid Lindblad participated in FP1 for the British and Mexico City Grands Prix in the current season.

Lindblad has been identified as a prodigy by Red Bull since he was 12 years old.

Discussing the company's junior academy, a key advisor noted last year that Lindblad "seems extremely gifted", commending his "raw pace".

The team has had a plan since last year to ready Lindblad for his likely F1 debut in 2026, featuring appearances in Grand Prix practice at Silverstone and Mexico City.

The rookie said it was a "dream come true", commenting: "2026 will be a big challenge, and I know there's plenty to absorb, but I'm prepared to work closely with the team and meet the challenge. I can't wait to get started."

Lindblad has taken a couple of victories in F2 so far this season and is P6 in the championship heading into the final round in Abu Dhabi.

The Frenchman's Chance

Hadjar on the rostrum

The French driver celebrates his maiden top-three finish in F1, achieved at the Dutch Grand Prix this season.

The Frenchman's debut season began on a low note when he crashed during the warm-up lap of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. But, since then, he has emerged as one of the stand-out newcomers this season.

He featured an remarkable podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he lies 10th in the championship.

The team principal commented: "Hadjar has shown great maturity and proved to be a fast adapter. Crucially, he has the raw speed that is the primary necessity in this sport. We believe he can excel alongside Max."

The promoted driver called it "an awesome move" and said he felt "ready".

The Lawson Decision

For the seat at Racing Bulls, Red Bull have chosen Lawson over Tsunoda.

Lawson began the season with the senior squad but was demoted after just two races. He has settled back in at Racing Bulls with notable results, persuading Red Bull he merits more time.

Tsunoda, in contrast, loses his place after a difficult season. His best result is a sixth place, and he has scored a small fraction of the team's points total.

These announcements mean that there remains no place on the Red Bull academy for Irish driver Alex Dunne, who will remain in F2 for 2026.
