Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is unclear and the American officials has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported wreckage landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
