Keeper Mary Earps has openly declared that her newly released personal story was not created to “damage others” and shared worry that audience feedback has been “misrepresented.”

The retired international goalkeeper, who had a vital part in the Euro 2022 victory, faced backlash from followers and Blues coach Sonia Bompastor after commenting about ex-colleague Hannah Hampton and head coach Sarina Wiegman.

In her book, Earps wrote that she told Wiegman she was “rewarding bad behaviour” by recalling Hampton to the England squad after omitting her for being “disruptive and unreliable.”

“It’s been really overwhelming to see how parts were misrepresented,” Earps shared in an interview.

Clarifying Her Purpose

Earps strongly emphasized that her book was not meant to hurt others.

She stated it was “not a sudden deterioration” in their connection—just a clash of viewpoints—and she still respects the manager.

“Certain events that happened in the summer that I hoped had unfolded otherwise,” Earps remarked.

Private Challenges

In the autobiography, Earps shared details of the mistreatment she experienced at during her education, describing it as a “really hard” chapter to revisit because it reawakened past pain.

These sentiments led to stress outbreaks, and Earps shared she struggled with self-perception and used alcohol during the global health crisis to manage mental health struggles.

Earps publicly revealed that she is in a same-sex relationship and expressed pride about her relationship.

She also mentioned her hopes for motherhood and revealed she has frozen her eggs for potential family planning.

“I deeply desire to be a parent and have a household,” Earps stated. “I am passionate about soccer, but I wish to have a child in the future.”

Earps described the medical treatment as “crazy and invasive” and called for more research tailored to players undergoing similar procedures.

During her remarks, Earps maintained that she has no second thoughts about her sports path or individual actions, stressing that she always proceeded with principle.
