Beloved Actor Pat Finn, Recognized For Appearances in Seinfeld and The Middle, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.

The actor Pat Finn had a key role in the popular sitcom "The Middle".

American actor Pat Finn, who featured in iconic TV shows including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at 60 years old.

The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California recently following treatment for cancer since 2022, according to news outlets.

"Pat never met a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones shared in a statement.

They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

A Notable Television Career

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.

He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a party host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous popular shows, like:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

His work in movies are It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".

Off-Screen Life

Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was a member of a six-person improv troupe known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat coached, befriended and mentored many learners during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.

In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote online.

Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
